How to Care for your Capital Garden Products Planter
Our planters are hand moulded in fibreglass and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The advantage of this material is that it is completely frostproof and requires no maintenance other than cleaning, as described below.
For outdoor use drainage holes should be drilled with a masonry drill-bit. Ideally a layer of old crocks or pebbles should be placed in the bottom of the planter to prevent the plants roots from rotting.
All our planters are made by hand, and the majority of finishes are made within the fibreglass mix, ensuring that if the surface is scratched the colour will be the same throughout and any scratches can be easily polished out. The Antique Zinc, Antique Faux Lead and Delphi White finishes are a hand applied finish.
Please be aware that in the hand making process there may be variations in colour and patina creating a desirable individual planter. If you are trying to match a previous order, please send us a photo and we will endeavour to match it.
Care Instructions For Bronzage, Rust, and Beaten Copper Finishes
These finishes contain minerals to create the antique finish. Please do not wipe or rub the surface, particularly when wet, as this will destroy the patina. As with any metal item, they may stain walls or floors, particularly when new or wet. A non-porous mat will prevent this. Colours can vary with our hand moulded items – no two items are identical.
Care Instructions For Faux-Lead Planters
Faux Lead planters can be dusted with a soft cloth. Or if necessary, washed down with warm soapy water using a non abrasive soft cloth.
Care Instructions for Antique Zinc, Antique Faux Lead, Terracotta, Stone, Etruscan and Delphi White Finishes
These finishes require little attention and if anything, improve with age. If you prefer to clean them then a soft brush and a light clean with a sponge and soapy water will suffice. Avoid rubbing the surface too hard as this could ruin the patina.
Care Instructions For Aluminium, Old Penny Bronze, Antique and Matt Brass Finishes
The finish textured or smooth, can be washed down with warm soapy water using a non abrasive cloth. If necessary, the surface can be polished with a non abrasive furniture or car polish and buffed up with a soft cloth.
